Our Future Is Secure
Scripture: Revelation 21:3–5 (WEB) — “I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, ‘Behold, God’s dwelling is with people; he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, crying, or pain any more. The first things have passed away.’ He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.'”
There are some promises so beautiful that they seem too good to be true. A world without tears. Without death. Without pain. Without goodbye. And yet this is exactly what God has promised. Not a vague, spiritual existence floating on clouds, but a real, renewed creation where God dwells with His people and everything broken is made whole. This is not wishful thinking. This is the hope that carries us through every trial of this present life.

The voice is loud. Not a whisper, not a suggestion, but a declaration so powerful it echoes through heaven. And the message is this: God will live with His people. The separation that sin caused will be over. The distance we sometimes feel will be gone. God will not visit us occasionally or meet us in a tent or a temple. He will dwell with us. Face to face. Forever.
This is the deepest longing of the human heart — to be fully known and fully loved, to be home, to belong. Every other hope we carry in this life is a reflection of this ultimate hope. Every longing for peace points to the peace of His presence. Every ache for belonging finds its answer in being His people. Every tear we cry now is a reminder that the day is coming when He will wipe them all away.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, crying, or pain any more. The first things have passed away.” — Revelation 21:4
Read that slowly. Every tear. Not some tears. Not most tears. Every single one. The tears you cried when you lost someone you love. The tears that fell in the middle of the night when no one was watching. The tears of disappointment, of betrayal, of exhaustion. Every one of them, gently wiped away by the hand of God.
Death will be no more. The enemy that has haunted humanity since the garden will be destroyed. No more funerals. No more goodbyes. No more watching someone you love fade away. Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Mourning, crying, and pain — the three companions of life in a broken world — will be gone. Not suppressed or ignored, but gone. The first things have passed away. The old order of sin and death and sorrow has been replaced by something so new, so glorious, that our minds cannot fully comprehend it.
“He who sits on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.'” — Revelation 21:5
Not “I will make all things new” in some distant future, but “I am making” — present tense. The work has already begun. Every act of grace in your life today is a preview of the coming renewal. Every moment the Spirit brings healing, hope, or peace is a down payment on the full restoration that is coming.
This future is secure. It is not dependent on your performance. It is not threatened by your failures. It is guaranteed by the One who sits on the throne. The same God who spoke the universe into existence has spoken this promise, and it will not fail.
This hope changes how we live today. It does not make the present pain less real, but it puts it in perspective. The trials of this life are not the whole story. They are a chapter, not the final page. The best is yet to come. And because our future is secure, we can face today — whatever it holds — with courage, with peace, and with unshakeable hope.
Breathe in: “God is making all things new.”
Breathe out: “My future is secure in Christ.”
You are not drifting toward an uncertain end. You are moving toward a glorious Beginning. The God who began a good work in you will carry it to completion. The day is coming when every tear will be wiped away, every wound will be healed, and you will be home — truly home — in the presence of the One who loves you most. That is the hope we carry. And it will not disappoint.
Prayer
Father, thank You for the secure hope I have in Christ. When this life feels heavy and the tears come, remind me that a day is coming when You will wipe every tear away. Help me to live today in the light of that hope — not ignoring the pain of the present, but trusting that the best is yet to come. Keep my eyes fixed on the day when all things are made new and I will dwell with You forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
