Jesus, I have been treating praise as a response to good news rather than an offering I bring. Which means my worship has been weather-dependent. When the week goes well, gratitude comes easily. When it does not, I go quiet, and I tell myself I will worship again when I feel like it.
So let praise become a habit rather than a reaction. Not loud, and not forced. Just continual, the way the writer describes it. Offered on the ordinary days, and offered on the days when there is nothing in me that wants to.
Let my words carry something true about You even when my feelings carry nothing at all. And let this become the shape of my life rather than the mood of a morning. In Your name, Amen.
