Freedom is usually far less dramatic than people expect. More often it looks like an ordinary Tuesday on which you notice, halfway through, that the thought you would normally have visited by now has not arrived.
Here is a small practice for today. When an old accusation surfaces about your past, your failure or your worth, do not fight it and do not feed it. Note it, and move your attention back to whatever you were already doing. Wash the dishes. Answer the email. Walk to the gate.
Freedom is largely a matter of where your attention goes when you are not guarding it. The more often you decline the old invitation, the less often it comes. You are not pretending the past did not happen. You are refusing to live in it.
