Jesus, I have been freed in ways I have not yet accepted.
You opened the door, and I have been standing in the doorway with one foot out, still looking back into the room. I want to walk through.
So today I am naming the things I keep going back for. The old failure. The person who hurt me. The version of myself I am ashamed of. I do not want to keep visiting them.
Thank You that You did not leave me on parole, watching my behaviour for signs of relapse. Thank You that You do not keep a file on my past. Help me to stop keeping one too.
And when I drift back into that old room, remind me that it is empty. What I go there looking for was dealt with at a cross, and it is not there any more. Let me live like someone who is out. Not partly out. Out. Amen.
