Lord, I am not going to pretend that everything in my life right now is good. You know what is heavy, and You know I have stopped pretending about some of it.
So let me be honest with You about the thanks I can offer. I cannot thank You for the pain. But I can thank You in it.
Thank You that I am not alone in this. Thank You that You are not surprised by it. Thank You that Your presence does not depend on my circumstances improving. Thank You that there is a version of this story I cannot see yet, and that You are already there.
Teach me to look for You before I look for the exit. And where I genuinely cannot find anything to thank You for today, let my simple turning toward You be enough. Amen.
