Thanksgiving That Glorifies God — Daily Encouragement

Try thankfulness on a day that does not deserve it, and notice what it costs.

The offering is awkward when everything in you is resisting it, so keep it small and true. Do not manufacture a paragraph of gratitude. Say one sentence to God that you actually mean: thank You that You are still God today, even though this is what today looks like.

That is a sacrifice in the ordinary sense of the word. It costs you something to say, and you say it anyway, not because you feel it but because it is true.

Notice too what the psalm puts after this kind of offering. Not an immediate change of circumstances, but sight, a clearer view of what God is doing. The praise does not fix the situation. It clears the way for you to see it.
