Father, thanksgiving is easy when the week has been kind, and You know that this week has not been.
So this morning I am offering what costs me something. Not a cheerful noise, and not a performance of gratitude I do not feel. Just the decision to say that You are good while my circumstances argue otherwise. I am not asking You to pretend the hard thing is not hard. I am asking You to keep me from letting it become the whole truth.
Let my thankfulness be a small act of honesty about who You are, rather than a report on how I feel. And where this praise clears the way for something You want to show me, open my eyes. I would rather see Your salvation in this than see my situation change and miss You in it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
