## Opening Reflection

There are some battles you simply cannot win on your own. You’ve tried everything — you’ve strategized, pushed, prayed, and pushed some more. And still, the Red Sea stretches before you, impossible to cross, while the enemy presses in from behind. It’s in that exact moment — the moment when your strength runs out — that God does His best work.

## Devotional

“Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.” — Exodus 14:14 (WEB)

These words were spoken to a people who were trapped. Freshly freed from slavery in Egypt, the Israelites stood at the edge of the Red Sea with Pharaoh’s army bearing down on them. They had no weapons. No military strategy. No exit plan. All they had was a promise from God — and that promise was enough.

The command here is striking: “You shall be still.”

This is counter to every instinct we have. When the pressure is on, our natural response is to do more. Work harder. Find a solution. Make something happen. But God says, “Be still. This one is Mine.”

Being still doesn’t mean being passive or giving up. It means actively trusting. It means releasing the need to control the outcome and placing it in hands far more capable than yours. It’s the hardest kind of work there is — the work of surrender.

Think about the Israelites that day. Can you imagine the tension? The dust of the Egyptian chariots on the horizon. The sound of hundreds of horses. The cries of the people around them. Everything in them screamed, “Run! Fight! Do something!” But Moses said, “Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh” (Exodus 14:13).

And God moved.

He didn’t move after they fought. He didn’t move after they proved their worth. He moved when they were still — when they finally stopped trying to save themselves and let Him be God.

The same is true for you today. There is a battle you’re facing right now that you cannot win in your own strength. Maybe it’s a financial crisis. A relationship in turmoil. A health struggle. A dream that seems to be dying. You’ve done everything you know to do, and still the sea hasn’t parted.

Friend, it’s time to be still.

Not to give up — but to let God be God. He doesn’t need your help to do what only He can do. He needs your trust. He needs you to step back, take a breath, and say, “Lord, I can’t. But You can. So I’m going to be still and watch You work.”

The same God who parted the Red Sea is with you today. He hasn’t changed. His arm hasn’t grown weak. And He is still fighting for you.

## Closing Reflection

What battle are you trying to fight in your own strength right now? What would it look like to be still — truly still — and let God fight for you? Can you take five minutes today to simply rest in His presence and release control?

—

## Prayer

Lord, I confess that I have been fighting battles that were never mine to win. I’ve been striving, worrying, and trying to make things happen in my own strength. Today, I choose to be still. I surrender this situation into Your hands. Fight for me, Lord, because You are far better at it than I am. I will stand back and watch You move. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
