*”Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”* — Isaiah 43:18-19 (WEB)
“Behold.” The word itself is a call to attention. Stop. Look. Listen. Something significant is happening. God is not merely suggesting a change — He is declaring it. *Behold, I will do a new thing.*
Isaiah spoke these words to a people in exile. They had lost everything — their homeland, their temple, their identity. All they could do was look back at what was and mourn. But God interrupts their grief with a command: *Don’t remember the former things.*
Not because the former things were bad. Some of them were glorious — the Red Sea crossing, the manna in the wilderness, the walls of Jericho falling. But even the glorious past can become a prison if it keeps you from expecting God to move in the present.
This is the capstone of Week 13, and the perfect launchpad for the second journey.
The first journey was beautiful. Twelve weeks of rooting, abiding, trusting, persevering. You learned to pray with the persistent widow, to abide like a branch in the vine, to run the race with endurance. Those lessons are not discarded — they are the foundation for what comes next.
But now God says: *Behold, I am doing a new thing.*
Not a recycled thing. Not a slightly adjusted version of the old thing. A *new* thing. A way in the wilderness — paths where there were no paths. Rivers in the desert — life where there was only barrenness.
This second journey — “Awaken My Soul” — is not the first journey repeated. It’s deeper. It’s about intimacy. It’s about worship. It’s about hearing God’s voice, daily surrender, and becoming more like Jesus. It’s the difference between knowing about God and knowing God. Between visiting the river and diving in.

God’s new thing is not a distant future promise. It is springing forth *now.* This week. Today. The mercies were new on Day 85. The soul awoke on Day 86. The plow was taken on Day 87. Thirst was acknowledged on Day 88. The heart opened wider on Day 89. Perspective shifted on Day 90. And now, on Day 91, the declaration is made: *It is happening.*
The first journey ended with “Faithful to the Finish.” And indeed He was faithful. Now, with even bolder faith, we step into His new thing.
Can you see it? Can you feel the rivers breaking through the dry ground of your soul? God is not finished with you. He is just getting started.
